AAA Aquamarine ring, White sapphire. white gold ring, handmade by chloe michell jewellery in cornwall

This ring was a slight step towards the more traditional style of design for me. As you know, I hand build all of my rings so this one took an extra bit of precision on my part. I was contacted by my client to make an engagement ring for his soon to be fiancé. The brief was to ‘keep it in my style of work, yet traditional in the sense there is a larger central stone and smaller to the sides. Nothing too big or brash’.

I came up with three different designs in rough sketch form. Once the basic style had been decided, I then drew up some alternatives in white gold with a choice of stones. Interestingly, my client liked one of my all time favourite combos of gemstones.

The decision was made to go for the AAA grade Aquamarine (it truly had the most gorgeous colour to it). White sapphires set either side and white gold granulation detail around the gemstones.

This commission had a very short deadline for completion. However, we managed to get it finished in time for him to ‘pop the question’’. Alas, this meant that I wasn’t able to get quite as many pictures as would’ve usually, as I was SO focused on getting the ring finished for the deadline (which happened to be the birthday of the bride to be). I am delighted to say this beautiful couple got engaged and have since married. It really is such a privilege to be able to design, make and create these treasures for my clients… and it’s why I love doing what I do!
